Proud Partners Classic raises record $266K ‘fore’
new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital

Avid golfers hit the links on Monday, June 11 in Mackenzie Health Foundation’s 23rd annual Proud Partners Classic raising more than $266,000 for the Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign to help build and equip the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital and enhance car at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital.

Sponsored by exp. for the fifth consecutive year, the exclusive golf tournament held at Eagles Nest Golf Club attracted 148 business and community leaders who enjoyed 18 holes of golf in scramble format, along with scrumptious food tasting stations, exciting on-course activities and amazing prizes.

The highlight of the post-event activities was the humorous and inspiring keynote speech of Maple Leafs legend, Darryl Sittler, who captivated the crowd and helped raised $5,000 with the auction of 10 personally signed authentic #27 jerseys.

A moving video message from former Mackenzie Health cardiac and rehabilitation patient, David Randall, inspired generous bidding in the live equipment auction, which raised funds towards a life-saving defibrillator at Mackenzie Health.

David’s life was saved thanks to the quick-thinking action of friends and staff at his golf club, where he experienced severe cardiac arrest in the parking lot and was defibrillated 23 times enroute to hospital. After 13 months of rehabilitation and education at Mackenzie Health, David was able to return to the game he loves.

Since 1995, the Proud Partners Classic Golf Tournament has raised more than $2.6M in support of new equipment and programs at Mackenzie Health and has become one of York Region’s most exclusive charity golf tournaments.

The 2019 Proud Partners Classic is slated for Monday, June 10 next year.
