RIDE FOR HEALTH RAISES RECORD-BREAKING $305K IN SUPPORT OF MACKENZIE HEALTH!
Hundreds of inspired and enthusiastic cyclists took to the scenic streets of York Region on Sunday, June 3 raising a record-breaking $305,000 for Mackenzie Health Foundation’s 4th annual Ride For Health presented by CIBC. The funds raised will support the Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign to help build and equip the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital and enhance patient care at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital.
The premier cycling event featured 25-, 60- and 100-kilometre routes that began and ended at Copper Creek Golf Course in Kleinburg. Riders were fuelled at the Pinecrest Farms rest stop on the last leg of their ride, courtesy of the Guglietti Family, Melrose Investments and a host of local vendors. Downtown Kleinburg was alive with tunes courtesy of the Z103.5 Party Patrol and a cheering crowd of spectators lining the main street.
Cindy Boyd and Vito Barbera were crowned Queen and King of the Hill. Carlo DeGasperis took home the trophy for Top Fundraiser for personally raising over $90,000 alongside Team A-TACC. Participants also had the honour of listening to the inspirational stories of Keynote Speaker Curt Harnett, a four-time Olympian, during their gourmet post-ride lunch.
“An incredible amount of time, effort and passion has gone into planning this event over the past year,” says Mark Roccatani, Executive Director and Regional Head at CIBC Private Wealth Management, who co-chairs the Ride For Health Committee with Domenic Gurreri, President of Forest Contractors. “Dom and I are beyond grateful to our committee, every participant, donor, sponsor and volunteer. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this record-breaking success without them!”
